Understanding peptide purity in research materials

Peptide purity describes the fraction of the target sequence relative to related synthesis byproducts and salts in a lyophilized preparation. In research procurement, purity is commonly reported as a percentage from high-performance chromatography paired with mass spectrometry confirmation.

Why it matters for assays

Impurity profiles can shift baseline signals in binding assays, alter retention behavior in chromatography, and complicate quantitative comparisons across batches. Documented purity supports traceability when reproducing methods across institutions.

How COAs relate

A certificate of analysis should list the analytical method, acceptance criteria, and batch-specific results. Match the batch identifier on your container to the COA before introducing material into analytical workflows.
